The Moving Upstream: Ganga documentary was filmed on a 3000km walk along River Ganga, part of the Moving Upstream program by Veditum India Foundation. The walk started from Ganga Sagar, West Bengal in June 2016, and completed on reaching Gangotri, Uttarakhand in April 2017. The film is an attempt in bringing out first person narratives as well as large scale data archives on the river's history, its condition and life of the people of the basin. The film follows the journey of Siddharth, an engineer by profession, who undertakes a 3000km walk along the Ganga to better understand the river and the people who live next to it. It follows his experiences of navigating the myriad dimensions of a river, its ecosystems and ecology, as well as his own personal journey of realisation and change as he navigates the 6 month long walk.
