The Boro: Fight for Identity

The idea of making this film came up when the print and electronic media besides some of the intellectuals in India irresponsibly crafted the terms 'Bodo Militants', 'Bodo Terrorists', 'Bodo Extremists' etc. and started to use them grossly for their own benefits in very incautious manners. There are twelve to fifteen tribes generically known as 'Bodo' for the reason of speaking 'Bodo' language that comes under Tibeto-Burmese language family. 'Boro' is one of the indigenous tribes among those tribes. The film is divided into nine chapters. It depicts the unending struggle and fight of the Boro people living in the land of many disparities. An evident story of long and real struggle for freedom from political suppression, communal discrimination, identity negligence and economic isolation perpetrated by the Governments and dominant communities for decades. The presentation is one of a kind as the whole community is fighting for the survival of their historical, cultural, traditional and linguistic identities. The message is clear that if you want your rights as a citizen of a nation, you have to fight. The Documentary is one of a kind as it covers many subjects and topics to complete a sequence.
