In 1967, Michael Mirell was a 19 year-old Los Angles surfer who's only concern in life was catching the next big wave off the beaches of Malibu. But by 1968 he found himself a citizen soldier, drafted to serve his country, fighting in Vietnam. During his tour, Mirell sent home hundreds of photographs to keep his parents appraised of his activities. Once home, he locked away his photos and carried on with is life. Now, 50 years later, Michael has unpacked his trove of images to share his experience as a combat soldier during America's involvement in Vietnam.
